Yellowstone, August 2006: Early Use of Multiple Image Panoramas
I first used multiple images to expand the picture frame to try to represent the expanse of the large valleys in Yellowstone. A single image just doesn't do it. It doesn't give you that unique sense of looking around yourself. I then became interested in the charge an image seemed to get by photographing this way. I like the idea of the shifting point of view. It creates stops in the visual scan of the landscape that use photography's stopping of the flow of time.
